7 SISTERS ROCK FEST 2010 was yet another ROCK FEST that took place in Delhi (
DLF Place , Saket) on 05th Dec ’10. This gig was a follow up of ‘7 Sisters Rock Fest’ in 2009 which took place at the same location, DLF Place, Saket, 2nd Floor, Food court open terrace, above Hard Rock CafĂ©. 7 SISTERS ROCK FEST is a very good initiative to conglomerate all the North Eastern music lovers in Delhi and spread the bond of brotherhood and sisterhood amongst North East people and beyond BUT what disheartened me was again as reiterated in the 7 SISTERS ROCK FEST 2009, lack of an anchor person or somebody as a spokesperson to let the crowd know what was happening in the schedule..... neither did the bands voiced an intro of what songs they were gonna to play...the show ended rather abruptly......
Promotional poster and line-up: BLEND/ KROASHIA/ RAMPAZZE/ DARK REIGN/ SILENT EXISTENCE/ NOSE BLEED/ THE MANGALZ/ SYSTEMATIC ROOTS/ THE BLUE CLOVER BAND/ PIP OF THE FOURTH MOTHER.
Vocalist of Kroashia.

Silent Existence, they were good for a short while until they took a toll on us with their repetitive thrash metal and monstrous vocals for more than an hour....... man! we almost died!!

It was my second visit to ‘7 SISTERS ROCK FEST’, first being in 2009 and therefore I was well acquainted with the crowd and the place, so we reached there on time, the gig got started by 5.00 pm. The opening act was done by ‘Frisky Pints’, not sure which North Eastern state they were from, who gave a good start with the kind of music they played but I wasn’t familiar with the songs they sang and they too did not bother to announce. Second band to take on-stage was ‘Kroashia’ from Mizoram, the vocalist was a lady, she did some monstrous vocals on some songs and rocked the crowd for a while, she also sang a rocking Mizo song which I really like it and the end they played ‘smells like teen spirits’, they sang around 5-6 songs and left the stage, the next band who came on stage was not announced, even if, may had been very meekly cause it was not clear and vocal, anyway the vocalist of the band had long hair and they sang songs like “Mr. Crowley”, “The final countdown “ and other stuff, good music with ok vocals...

The name of the band I missed who played 'Mr. Crowley, The final countdown' etc.
Next band lined up was a real shitty band from Delhi called ‘Silent Existence’ music was good, had it been for a short while, but took a negative turn when the thrash music & monstrous vocals by lady vocalist, Natasha, repeatedly sounded the same, they were very loud & after one point it became a noise, subsequently, the audience got bored or should I say rather irritated. The problem with this band, agree with me or not, they stalled a lot of time and did not want to leave the stage which eventually led some bands miss the opportunity to perform on the stage due to time constraint, as per Delhi law, the gig should be over by 10.30 pm and so it was. Anyway, ‘Survival Existence’ became a PARASITE (am sorry to use the word but cant help it!) of the show, sucking blood of many people, and it left the stage singing not less than 10-12 songs, which actually was biased, because all other bands played 5-6 songs and moved on, giving equal opportunity to other bands in congruence to time limit factor.

I, myself, am trying to get a reason why and how SILENT EXISTENCE got an entry to 7 Sisters Fest, when they were a band out of the North East jurisdiction..
Next band up in queue was ‘The Mangalz’ from Arunachal, a hind hard rock band, they sang their own covers, one of them was ‘Kali Pari’ which, they also played during ‘7 sisters rock fest 2009’ other than this they sang ‘Nain tarsa’ from the Dev-D flick, at this the crowd really got uplifted as they sang one popular Hindi number. The next band lined up was ‘Blends’ from Mizoram which had also played during ‘7 sisters rock fest 2009’ but we (my fren and I) had to miss their show cuz the night was extremely cold and we had to charge up ourselves over a bottle of Rum to get going. But, no regrets as I had already seen their performance during 2009, they’re a good band, by the time we came back from the ‘theka’ (liquor shop) Blends were gone and a very familiar sounding band ‘Rampazze’ took the stage on fire, I had heard about them in promos & ads but never did get a chance to witness their performance, lucky me, who caught them inadvertently, In 2009 is was ‘Dark Horizon’ who outstandingly rocked the show and this time it had to be ‘Rampazze’, our favorite of the whole lot. They played songs like ‘Everything about you (Ugly Kid Joe), ‘Foxy lady’ many more popular numbers but I can’t recall as I was busy engrossed & head banging with two of my other friends in the first row of the stage, my apologies, but the music they played really uplifted me and led me to head banging in the entire of the show. ‘RAMPAZZE’ is Hard/Metal Rock band from Assam formed in 2003 over their own composition ‘Cheap liquor, wicked hangover’ which really has potential music and singing and obviously yes, you should not miss them perform the next time when you get to know if they are playing around you…..

Vocalist of "Blends" from Mizoram.

In Total 6 bands came on stage on Dec 05th wherein on the promos it was advertised that 10 bands would participate in the show. I don’t know what went wrong but our frens left the gig with a lil disappointment in their hearts, as the gig, seemed to end very soon …. Had there been 2 more bands lined up, the gig would have had been ultimatum……
HOPE TO SEE MORE FROM THE 7 SISTERS ROCK FEST organizers in 2011 & also hope to see that this event goes in a promotional order as postered and give all the state bands equal amount of time & opportunity to perform on stage…. and to be a lil transparent as per my sources, some the bands from the above stated line-up bands, they had played on the 04th of Dec, a day ahead.......
