Abiogenesis in New Delhi 2009

During the early month of March, Akshara Theatre ( Connaught Place/ N.Delhi ) had held a programme “Romancing with Norh-East” in its premises showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the North East and in this due context, all the renowned dancers, singers, designers, bands etc., were called to participate and add success to the congregation of “Romancing with North East”. Amongst all these in the chart, who caught my attention were - Lou Majaw - 06th March ’09, Soul Mate - 07th March ’09 and  Abiogenesis - 14th March ’09.

Vocalist- Arenla (left)and Guitarist- Moa Subong (right) of the band "ABIOGENESIS" performing at Akshara Theatre ( Connaught Place/ N.Delhi )
A great family co-ordination; Arenla & Moa with their son 'Senti' in the middle.

It was really a sad thing not being able to witness “Soulmate” and “Lou Majaw” due to some personal reason and time schedule, However, didn’t fail to enjoy Abiogenesis’s performance. A folk rock band belonging to the place where I belong - Dimapur, Nagaland. I’ve taken few photographs at the show, hope u would like it. Abiogenesis is a folk rock grammy nominated band casting – Arenala (vocalist), Moa (guitar/bamhum), Imli (drums), Moss (bass) and Toji (lead).

Abiogenesis Live!

They play Rock/ fusion (Folk) and they have developed experimental music called Howey. Howey is a Fusion of Naga Folk tunes with modern music. They also play a new wind musical instrument called bamhum invented by one of the band members. Abiogenesis is the only band in the world that plays Howey & Bamhum. They have performed in many places in India and Thailand. Apart from very energetic and livey, It's a band which is very rich in culture and tradition. One uniqueness amongst many uniqueness's of this band is that Arenla (vocalist) is married to Moa (Guitars/ Bamhum) and together they have a son, Moa (Drums) who plays a reall kick-ass drums and has kept the flag of Abiogenesis fluttering high with his parents. Ain't that amazing ??

A group photo with the band.
