Rock in India - is an annual music festival started its first edition in the year 2008. In 2008, the event was sponsored by Red Ramanov, the event saw a variety of Indian rock bands vying for the top. Megadeth and Machinehead headlined and performed in the fest. on 14th March, 2008. A year after, in 2009; Rock in India witnessed its 2nd edition; sponsored by Royal challenge wherein Iron Maiden performed at the event on Feb 15th 2009, believe was the band’s third visit to India, the other trips being in 2007 with Megadeth and Aerosmith at Bangalore Palace grounds & 2008 in Mumbai. Strength of the Maiden audience in the 2008 & 2007 concert being estimated to 30,000 people and 40,000 people.
I was Gearing up for the Rock in India; 3rd edition (2010) as gig promoters were in talks with International Heavy Metal/Hard Rock icons like Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theater and Children Of Bodom to be part of it but my wish has broken apart............
Finally, the dates are out for Rock in India (3rd edition) beginning 20th Feb to 21st of Feb. 2010; reportedly till now to my knowledge the only international rock band is "Backstreet Boys" dunno when they'd call Metallica
"Rock in India should not happen to ape the hype of msic but progress and development of the rock culture in India."
