MLTR is a
Denmark based soft rock band, formed in 1988 with Jascha Richter (lead singer, song writer & keyboardist, aged 46)
, Kåre Wanscher (Drummer), Mikkel Lentz (Guitarist) & Søren Madsen (Bass) though Soren left the group in 2000 to embark on a solo career, since then MLTR has been a trio band. Their albums, in ascending order, include: Michael Learns To Rock, Colours, Played on pepper, Paint my love, Nothing to Lose, Blue night, Take me to your heart & Eternity (Nov. 2008 release)
From L to R: Jascha Richter, Kåre Wanscher & Mikkel Lentz @ F.bar & Lounge in N.Delhi on June 17th '10.
Jascha, Mikkel and Kåre had visited India twice earlier, once in 1996 & in 2005, however could not perform in Delhi due to entertainment tax-related issues. So, this was MLTR's 3rd Visit to India from June 16th to June 21st ‘10. to promote their 2008 music release titled “Eternity”. During this tour, they performed in the three cities of India – Mumbai: on June 16th ‘10 @ Enigma, JW Marriott, Delhi : on June 17th ’10 @ F.bar, Ashok Hotel & Bangalore: On June 20th ’10 @ Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds.

Watching MLTR in flesh and blood was a lifetime experience to me, what was more exciting was, being able to watch them right in front, at a distance of around 2 yards, YES…. The organizers did not put any barriers near the stage to hold back the audience from the group; as a result, all the audience had a chance to have a closer look at their favorite stars. It was a very reminiscing night to see MLTR perform stupendously which connected memoirs of my school/college days.

We reached at the location at around 9.30 PM, got our entry by 10.00 pm & were waiting for the Danish band to show up but the show was delayed by 2 hrs yet all the people kept their calm…… So, all this while I was keenly observing people cause I had never seen an f-bar atmosphere. The ambience inside the bar was regal & page 3 kind, the half of the crowd was not the regular rock fest attendee types, most of the men & women, to me, appeared from the hi-class society. Men wore both formals & casuals while women wore skimpy and flimsy clothes, almost revealing everything and were seen with older men hanging around but the other half of the crowd (including Sumi & I, lol) was ‘COOL’ waiting for the group to take the stage until 11.30 pm when they finally took over the stage & rocked the audience with their very first number ‘Wild women’ at which the crowd almost advanced like a storm to catch a closer view of their stars, looking at the storming crowd they quickly took to a slow number ‘Sleeping child’ while the bouncers in the bar got queued as a barrier to prohibit further apprehensions between the group and the crowd. MLTR, then sang ‘Its gonna make sense’, ‘Actor’, ‘25 minutes’, ‘Paint my love’, the Chinese-English composition ‘Take me to your heart’, Jascha & Mikkel also interacted a lot with the crowd stating their biggest fan in India and that they were in Facebook and this was there first show in Delhi and stuff. All this while, Sumi & I were sandwiched in the crowd, didn’t get a single space to move though we enjoyed a lot and were able to take some photographs & videos with my sony Digi. cam
This is how much I got close to them......
........and more....
.... and more and more....
MLTR continued with their singing – ‘Sweetest surprise’, ‘A kiss in the rain’, ‘Breaking my heart’, with ‘That’s why’ the band announced their last song…. so all the crowds joined hands with the group and sang in one rhythm ……… ‘that’s why, you go away, I know’ but with the end of this song, the crowd pleaded for more, the group, on seeing the crowds love and affection had to play their LAST-LAST number ‘Someday’ which was perfectly in congruence with the time and the situation…. People for the last time sang on top of their voice hoping to meet again…. Someday, somewhere… (together we’ll be baby………)Oh Boy! wad an event to cherish....................... Love ya MLTR :)
Any idea, when MLTR is coming again in India??
ReplyDeleteHello Raju,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this blog-post. The day, June 17th, was very very special for me too because it was the first time I was seeing them in flesh-and-blood. It turned into a crazy dream sort of an experience when MLTR announced my name, and later on, gave me an opportunity to meet them exclusively for half an hour. I can relate to everything that you have mentioned in the blog - about how the F-bar was a very sophisticated place and about how the crowd felt so Page 3. Believe me, in normal times I would never step into such a place because of a complex and diffidence, but it was MLTR, I didn't care who else was there, and I lost all notions of self-consciousness. All in all, an awesome evening.
Regards,
Asiman
Regarding MLTR's next visit to India : well, I was given to understand that they were to visit India this fall, in October-November 2011. But actually organizing a concert requires a lot of will on the part of promoters and organizers, and as such, is a very uncertain thing. Anyway, MLTR have hinted somewhere recently, that they do have India at the top in their plans. SO let us hope they tour India to promote their new album which is due to release in April-May 2012. SO may, only after that. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you a lot for the info, Asiman.
